New Work Zine

A specially printed zine featuring select drawings from Craig Costello’s New Work, a show presented at Isetan the Space in Tokyo, Japan. Each page aims to reflect and imitate the finish of the actual artwork, including the bleed effect on the back of each page and the gloss effect of the markers used.

48 pages, full color with spot varnish and spot UV, 110gm semi-coated stock. Edition of 300.

#Gratitude #Thanks #Spasibo

On October 7, 2011, the blogger and now United Russia Party member, Vladimir Burmatov, posted a rhyming couplet on Twitter: “Moscow is warm and sunny. Summer! #ThanksToPutinForThat” and encouraged others to follow with their own tweets using the hashtag #ThankstoPutinforThat. The invitation was quickly accepted with more than 10,000 tweets that day. It became the first globally trending Cyrillic hashtag. The resulting tweets were frequently sarcastic or critical of Putin’s political agenda.

This specific project utilized publicly available GPS inf
ormation embedded in #ThanksToPutinForThat to track user post locations and creating photographs to mark the locations in the real world.

Promises Written on the Ice, Left in the Sun

Worked with 2020 Visionary Award from the Tim Hetherington Trust winner Kiana Hayeri on an outdoor exhibition for her photography series documenting the stories of women in Afghanistan who have been profiled in the media.
